Shrimps are not part Afghani menu, therefor I never had shrimps till later in life. Initially I was introduced to shrimp curry (Fijian style) through my husband at his parents house. I remember trying only one shrimp with hesitation not knowing what to expect. I must say after trying one, I went back for a full plate and enjoyed it very much. I could not belief how much I have missed out all these years.
Since then, I have made shrimps many times and this is one of our favourite quick and easy to go recipe.
Fresh shrimps are always best option if available, if not frozen shrimps are the faster alternative.
Ingredients:
-
- 1 package of frozen shrimps
-
- 2 tablespoon of oil
-
- 1 shallow teaspoon garlic powder
-
- 1 shallow teaspoon of onion powder
-
- 1 fresh lime
-
- Salt and pepper to taste
-
- ½ teaspoon of Italian spices
-
- ½ teaspoon paprika powder
-
- ½ onion finely chopped
-
- 1 tablespoon of chopped cilantro
- 1 cup of water or broth (vegetable or meat)
How to make Shrimp Curry:
In a pan or wok heat the oil and sauté onion until translucent. Add shrimp and all the spices and mix. Add 1 cup of water or broth. Let it simmer for 5-10 minutes on low heat. Add cilantro and squeeze the juice of one lime.
Literally that simple!
